Nosework is 6 sessions. You can attend any 6 sessions in the 8-week period.
Has your dog every looked off in the distance with his nose in the air? You tried to figure out what he was smelling, but couldn't smell anything yourself. Well, a dog's nose is amazing. Dogs wiggle each nostril independently, breathe in through the holes in the front of the nose and exhale through the side slits, and discern individual odors making up what we could call a “scent.” Humans have about 5 million cells devoted to smelling and although different breeds have different amount of cells, they have up to 220 million. They also have four times the brain power devoted to processing scents!
Nosework is an activity that allows your dog to use their natural desire to hunt with their amazing nose! In training, dogs learn to find one of three scents just about anywhere you can hide it. Nosework is a physical and mental activity that harnesses a dog’s unique ability to detect scent and determine the source. It is a rewarding activity for both you and your dog.
Class will be limited to five students at a time, so please fill out the Sign Up sheet to check class availability.
